Our vision of Western chant has come about through a subversion of a thousand-year-old manuscript tradition. The voice, "like a wild thing's heart", searches the depths of aural consciousness for something of the music's original breath.
Masked - perhaps even protected - by an eclectic repertoire, flashes of emotive color surge through the sound, surprising us like wild flowers among rocks. As the branch greens, as the cactus flowers, we are challenged to break ground from beneath. This incisive voice is the perfect means of cutting a way through the over-growth, and the Word reverberates to this voice of praise, inviting us to link earth with Heaven.
Under the light of the Voice from the Cloud we are drawn into God's own time.
